How Can You Help to Protect the Environment?

Maspeth, NY 718-416-1656

Everyday, we are searching for new ways to improve our lives and the planet on which we live.  We can start by recycling the items that we use in daily life.  It is much easier than we think and also the law in New York City because it is free to residents.  Recycling is an easy way to protect the environment and try to slow the global climate change.

The City of New York provides a convenient and comprehensive curbside recycling program for its residents. The Department of Sanitation provides weekly pickups and easily accessible and detailed information about recycling in New York City. It's very important to know what exactly to recycle.

There are two different types of recycling, you have paper recycling and also bottle and can recycling.  You should keep containers for collecting paper in your main work areas, like where you sort mail or dispose kitchen items.  Develop a system to deliberately remind you to recycle things you would normally throw in the trash.  Shred mail and remove address labels if you are concerned about the confidentiality of your mail.  Make things easy on the environment and yourself by finding out how to unsubscribe to all of your junk mail.

When recycling bottles and cans you can leave the labels and lids on but be sure to rinse to prevent pests and odors.  You can also save space by flattening your recyclable items, it will not affect recyclability.

Visit Boro-Wide recycling if you have recyclable items that may be too big to leave curbside. Boro-Wide Recycling Corp. is the leading full service provider of progressive and innovative recycling and waste management services.  For additional information please contact us at info@borowiderecycling.com.
