No More Love for The Love Boat!

Maspeth, NY 718-416-1656

The famous boat from the TV series “The Love Boat” is being scrapped by a Turkish demolition company, which purchased the vessel for more than $3.3 million, according to USA Today (wasterecyclingnews.com).

This ship was built in 1971 for Flagship Cruises and was named the “Sea Venture.” It was renamed to the “Pacific Princess” in 1975 after joining the Princess fleet. This ship weighed 19,903 tons and held 600 passengers.

It’s most famous time was when it was used for the backdrop of the hit television show “The Love Boat” from 1977 to 1986. Its name was shortened to the “Princess” in the early 2000’s after a new “Pacific Princess” was added to the fleet.

The ship has been sitting at a dock in Genoa, Italy for more than a year. It last sailed for the Spanish company Quail Cruises (wasterecyclingnews.com).
