In Smithtown, Long Island, three men have been charged in a recycling scheme which left the town without thousands of dollars in revenue.
Two
employees at a garbage carting firm called Jody Enterprises Inc. are being
accused of diverting cardboard and paper waste that was meant for the Town of
Smithtown recycling plant. They were instead selling it for cash payments to
DeMatteo Salvage in West Babylon.
Cardboard
theft has become a huge issue in New York, as well as many other cities around
the country.
