NYC Now Recycling Almost All Types of Hard Plastic!

Maspeth, NY 718-416-1656

Thanks to Mayor Michael Bloomberg, New York City sanitation crews will now accept almost all forms of rigid plastics.

Newly accepted plastics, include:
  • Shampoo bottles
  • Clothes hangers
  • Toys
  • Take-out containers
  • Laundry detergent bottles
  • Crates
  • Yogurt cups
  • And much more!

For more recyclable items, visit NYC.gov’s list.

The addition of rigid plastics is estimated to help divert 50,000 tons of recyclable waste from landfills each year and help to double the city’s recycling rate from 15 to 30 percent by 2017!
