Stop! Don’t throw away those torn jeans or warn hoodie, they can be recycled! It’s true. Goodwill will take textiles in any sort of condition. If after a while, the item isn’t sold, Goodwill contacts aftermarket textile recyclers who can use the clothing in a variety of ways. Whatever can be done to keep the clothes out of landfills, will be done!

So what happens to all of the unsellable textiles?

• 45% are sent to other countries as second-hand clothing
• 30% become wiping or polishing cloths
• 20% are turned into fibers for upholstery, insulation and furniture stuffing

SMART estimates that only 15 percent of all textiles are actually being recycled, which leaves around 11.1 million tons of textiles in landfills every year!

So next time you’re cleaning out your closest and find that old pair of paints that you don’t wear anymore drop them off at a goodwill or donation box!

Do you know what happens to your recycled bottles, cans, or paper? Well, thanks to Eco-Cycles article, we have some ideas shown below!

• Glass bottles are recycled into new glass bottles!
• Aluminum cans are turned back into new aluminum cans, which can be processed over and over again. So don’t throw out aluminum cans!
• Steel cans are broken down and used in cars and construction materials. They too can be recycled over and over again.
• Plastic bottles are used in everything! New bottles, carpet, clothes, the list goes on!
• Paper is made into new paper. Some types of paper can even be recycled and reused up to seven times!

So now that you know what happens to those used bottles and cans, make sure you recycle them every time!

If you are, you've certainly run into the situation of your cat scratching up your furniture. We have a solution. If you have some old cardboard boxes and some craft supplies, you can make your own scratch pad!

Materials you’ll need:

• Cardboard Boxes
• A Knife or Scissors
• A Ruler
• Glue or Double Sided Tape
• A Cutting Mat

The process is simple! All you have to do is cut the cardboard into same-sized strips and glue or tape them together. Follow the steps and pictures provided by potatopanic’s blog post. You’ll be helping your cat out and reusing your cardboard.
