Yesterday, City Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott announced
a new learning initiative for those students who were displaced from their homes
and schools after Hurricane Sandy.
New York City will now be offering online courses to
students. The courses are being offered to students in grades 6 through 12.
Students who were reassigned to other schools while their school is under
repair are also eligible for the online courses.
The courses will be available in core subjects such as math,
English and history. If students do not have computers are home, libraries
throughout New York City, Queens and Brooklyn will be providing internet access
for their use.
