It’s true! Thames Water, Great Britain’s biggest water
company has teamed up with 20C, a utility company to run the largest fat-fueled
power station in the world!
Used cooking oil and grease from London homes, restaurants
and food manufacturers will be collected and used to power the facility which
will produce an estimated 130 Gigawatt hours a year of electricity. That’s
enough to power nearly 40 thousand, average sized homes!
The use of the oil and grease is expected to ease sewer
blockages, which occur when fat, grease and oil are poured down sink drains.
