Will you be hosting Thanksgiving at your home this year? With the big day just about two weeks away, you might be starting to plan and prepare for the gathering that is about to take place in your home. As you get ready to open your doors to friends and family this year, we encourage you to keep the following tips in mind to reduce the amount of holiday waste you produce:
  • Avoid using plastic dishes and silverware that would be thrown out after the day is over. Instead, use cloth napkins and reusable place settings.
  • Prepare recycling bins for beverage containers and place them in an area where they are easily accessible to guests.
  • Buy products in bulk and make an effort to select products that come in reusable containers.
Once the day is over, don't forget to continue with your green efforts! For example, always compost leftover food scraps when possible and only run the dishwasher when it is full. For more great tips on how to reduce waste this holiday season, click here.
