NYC Offering Online Courses to Students Displaced by Hurricane Sandy

Yesterday, City Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott announced a new learning initiative for those students who were displaced from their homes and schools after Hurricane Sandy.

New York City will now be offering online courses to students. The courses are being offered to students in grades 6 through 12. Students who were reassigned to other schools while their school is under repair are also eligible for the online courses.

The courses will be available in core subjects such as math, English and history. If students do not have computers are home, libraries throughout New York City, Queens and Brooklyn will be providing internet access for their use.
